People ask how the idea for Inochi came to me, and they usually expect a tidy answer.

A gap in the market.

A clever business plan.

The truth is simpler, and a little more personal than that.

I built Inochi because I believe people here deserve to feel the way this ritual made me feel.

Calm.

Cared for.

Returned to myself.

And when I looked around Corvallis, nobody was offering the real thing.

What a Japanese head spa actually is

Somewhere along the way, "head spa" started to mean a quick scrub and a rinse. Fast, a little flashy, in and out. And I understand the appeal of quick. But that was never what I set out to build here in Oregon.

Inochi is a day spa experience. A full ritual. When you come in, you are not being processed through a service. You are being cared for. The Japanese approach to head spa is rooted in intention, gentleness, and restoration, and that is exactly what makes it different from a fast scalp wash.

A clean scalp is the side effect. The way you feel when you leave is the point.

Why organic matters to me

Everything we use at Inochi is organic. Not as a buzzword, as a standard. The products that touch your scalp are thoughtfully sourced and made the right way, so nothing loses its integrity on the way to you. If it is going on your skin and into your senses for an hour, it should be something I can name and stand behind.

The original head spa in the Willamette Valley

Inochi was Corvallis's first true Japanese head spa, and I do not take that lightly. Being first means setting the standard. It means that when someone in Corvallis, Albany, Philomath, or anywhere in the Willamette Valley goes looking for this experience, what they find with us is the real thing, done with care.

If you want to understand what actually happens during a session and why people feel so different afterward, I wrote about that here [link to Post 2]. And if you are curious about the ancient ritual at the heart of it all, that story is here [link to Post 3].

This is more than a treatment. It is an hour where nothing is asked of you, and you finally get to receive.

Whoever you are, whatever you have been carrying, there is a chair here for you.

That is why Inochi exists.

COME EXPERIENCE IT WITH US.
